On September 2, fried rice using ST25 rice ingredients from Vietnam became a "special lunch" at the Japanese Cabinet Office.

A representative of Spice House Co., Ltd - a distributor of ST25 rice in Japan said that Vietnam's ST25 rice had won "The best rice in the world" in 2019 and is trusted by many consumers. Therefore, Spice House has cooperated with Kiraboshi Bank and Suntomi International Company (importing company) to bring ST25 rice from Vietnam to Japanese consumers.

ST25 rice is used as fried rice in the menu on September 2 of Japanese Cabinet Office officials.

According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan, in order to bring ST25 rice into the Japanese market, Vietnamese enterprises must pass more than 600 strict technical standards along with very high requirements of Japanese consumers.

After more than 1 year of negotiation and quality control, Spice House Co., Ltd. has succeeded in bringing ST25 rice to consumers in Japan. From planting, quality monitoring, harvesting, packaging and preservation, the processes are strictly controlled to ensure the quality of fragrant, firm, naturally sweet rice grains. This is a great success of the producer as well as the trader when bringing ST25 rice to the Japanese market. The export of ST25 rice to the Japanese market is proof that Vietnam not only exports a lot of rice, but also exports delicious rice, which meets the very high standards of the Japanese market.

Previously, at the beginning of July 2022, for the first time, 100 tons of ST25 Vietnamese rice were officially advertised and sold at supermarkets and stores in Japan, marking an important milestone when Vietnamese rice Nam will officially appear on the dining table of Japanese families. As Counselor of the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan, Mr. Ta Duc Minh, said, this is a good sign for Vietnamese rice exports to Japan in the future.

In order for Vietnamese rice to be known to many Japanese consumers, besides the efforts of the Trade Office, businesses need to increase their participation in fairs, exhibitions and trade promotion programs to seize export opportunities exporting rice.

On the other hand, it is necessary to synchronize the production process, propagate to farmers to produce quality products, ensure processes like Global Gap, and have a stable and uniform growing area.

"Vietnamese rice needs to be associated with the brand and image of Vietnam, with outstanding differences and unique characteristics, it will certainly compete with rice varieties that have entered the Japanese market for many years now. Thailand, China," Mr. Minh said. According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan, in 2021, Vietnam's rice export turnover to Japan will only reach 48.7 million yen and account for only about 0.09% of Japan's total rice imports.
