Statistics from the General Department of Customs show that, at the end of September, pangasius exports earned nearly 1.97 billion USD, up 83.3% over the same period last year. Pangasius exports to all markets recorded a strong increase, of which China and ASEAN had a sudden increase.
Specifically, pangasius exports to ASEAN countries in 9 months were estimated at more than 152 million USD, up over 83% over the same period last year and accounting for nearly 8% of total pangasius exports to markets. Particularly in September, these markets all massively bought 2-8 times more pangasius compared to the same period in 2021.

According to VASEP, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines are the largest customers of Vietnamese pangasius exports in ASEAN. In which, pangasius exported to Thailand, 9 months increased by nearly 81% compared to the same period in 2021; Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines increased by more than 56%, 114% and 92% respectively.

According to VASEP, this year, the sharp fluctuation of gasoline prices affects transportation costs, causing this industry to choose to shift to markets with close geographical locations, so pangasius sales to ASEAN increased dramatically. VASEP predicts that the ASEAN market will tend to occupy a larger proportion of pangasius exports and may surpass the EU in the near future.
