The export of fruit and vegetables in June posted record revenue of $1 billion, a 2.7-fold increase year-on-year, figures from the Vietnam Fruit & Vegetable Association show.
This is the first time that fruit and vegetable exports have hit $1 billion.
Exports normally average some $300 million a month.
Only seafood and wood and wooden products have posted monthly export value of $1 billion or more, according to the Association.
Exports of fruit and vegetables began to recover at the end of last year after China reopened. Export value has increased remarkably since the second half of May, reaching $400 million, bringing the total in the month to $656 million, up 80 per cent year-on-year.
China is still the largest importer of Vietnamese fruit and vegetables, with a market share of 63.5 per cent, followed by South Korea, Japan, and the Netherlands.
