The contest is for professional domestic and foreign chefs working in hotels and restaurants in Vietnam. Candidates who participated and won the Saigon International Cooking Contest in 2015, 2016, 2017 are not eligible for the 2018 contest.
Through the tests, contestants will introduce delicious and attractive dishes of Vietnam and the world which are processed from Vietnamese food ingredients and special spices, thereby contributing to promote and expand domestic and export markets for Vietnamese food ingredients and spices.
Candidates of final rounds are provided uniforms (aprons and kitchen hats), VND 1,000,000 as supporting expense for travel and food ingredients. The organizers will equip each contestant with two electric cookers, two pots, one pan, a shared kitchen sink (05 candidates / 02 basins), a 20 liter bottle of pure water, a package of cooking gloves and a cooking table.
According to the organizers of the contest, in order to encourage the chefs to participate in the contest, the organizers will offer many attractive prizes. Award structure consists of 01 first prize worth VND 15 million; 02 second prizes worth VND 10 million each; 03 third prizes worth VND 5,000,000 each; 8 consolation prizes worth VND 1,000,000 each.
The contest jury consists of 04 members, including a representative of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, contest organizer, Mr. Ly Sanh - Former Chairman of the Saigon Professional Chef Association, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Tam - Vice President of the Saigon Professional Chef Association, Head of the European Cuisine Club and Mr. Klaus Krogh Christensen - Danish nationality, winner of the "Saigon International Cooking Contest 2016", Chef of Stormi Sai Gon Restaurant in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
The jury will evaluate contents such as operations, processing process, smell, taste, status, color, food presentation, creativity; hygiene and food safety, to choose the most brilliant candidates awarded the title "talented chef".
The final round of the contest will start at 9 am on 16/11/2018 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.
