13 Taiwanese leading food companies join Vietnam Foodexpo 2018

The Bureau of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) have jointly arranged a delegation of 13 reputable Taiwanese food vendors to participate in Vietnam Foodexpo 2018, November 14-17 in Ho Chi Minh City. This is Vietnam's largest and most comprehensive food exhibition event hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and directly organized by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE).

The Taiwan Pavilion, set up by TAITRA, is located near the A2 entrance and cover 144 sq. m. The Taiwanese delegation gathers famous brands, such as Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corp. (TTL), Land Young Foods, Chou Chin, Shan Mai, Shih Chen, and many other food manufacturers. The Taiwan Pavilion’s 13 exhibitors showcase a diverse range of Taiwan’s finest products, including teas, frozen food, confectioneries, beverages, noodles, sauces, beer, bubble tea raw materials, and jellies.

Most of the companies exhibiting at the Taiwan Pavilion are first-time participants in Vietnam. Companies include Land Young Foods with its tasty frozen sea food products; Chou chin and Gau Jiann, are professional beverage manufacturers; Puly, Yongda Food and Shang Li offer attractive bubble tea raw materials, Shan Mai and Red Sakura manufacture Taiwanese traditional cakes, TTL Corporation are a giant beer producer and offer a wide range of tasty beers. Taiwanese food producers are confident of their strong position and market advantage in Vietnam, because of their quality-control, brand image and intercultural palate.

In 2017, Vietnam had a population of 93 million people, 45% of whom are aged between 25 and 45. The intensive growth of the young labor market has driven Vietnam’s economic development. According to Taiwanese statistics from 2017, the export value of major agricultural food products from Taiwan to Vietnam amounted to US$254 million - an increase of 14.6% over the previous year. Frozen seafood constituted the largest export portion, accounting for one quarter of the export value. Vietnam Foodexpo 2018 not only provides a valuable platform for Taiwanese manufacturers to meet current and prospective buyers, but also presents a great opportunity to expand their businesses to different regions of the world, especially member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
