Vietnam Foodexpo 2018: A panorama of Vietnam's dynamic food industry

Vietnam has a large and abundant supply of agricultural products and foodstuffs for the domestic market and export. Over the past years, with the tendency to increase investment from a wide range of both domestic and foreign capitals, Vietnam’s food industry has been gradually flourishing and developed dynamically in the process of economic integration. BMI Research forecasts that Vietnam’s food industry will achieve an annual growth of 10.9% in 2015-2020.

Right from 2015, the first year of the BMI Research forecast for the food industry, Vietnam Foodexpo hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and implemented by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency in cooperation with foreign agencies, organizations and businesses was established. Since then it has been continuously accompanied by food industry companies, with view to introduce to importers, investors, distribution channels and food experts around the world about Vietnam with a diversified supply of high quality agricultural products.

In fact, through three annual exhibitions held from 2015 to date, Vietnam Foodexpo has always been considered as the most comprehensive exhibition in the food industry, by converging thousands of food and agricultural products and  brands, from raw materials to in-depth processed products, high added value products, including those that have put Vietnam on the top of the world major exporters such as tea, coffee, rice, pepper, cashew nuts... to new products launched to the market such as herbal mushrooms, Gac, etc. Especially, Vietnam Foodexpo is also a place where visitors can experience colorful world of rich tropical food of Vietnam, learn about the strong growth of Vietnam's food supply and get access to business and investment opportunities.

Mr. Do Thang Hai, Vice Minister of Industry and Trade, said: "I am confident that the Vietnam Foodexpo held from 14-17 November 2018 in Ho Chi Minh City will be a prestigious destination for foreign partners to learn about the increasingly diverse and growing supply of Vietnamese food and agricultural products, and to directly exchange promising Vietnamese agricultural product and food business and investment cooperation opportunities at the exhibition". "Vietnam Foodexpo 2018 will be the most tangible meeting place for businesses," Vice Minister Do Thang Hai said.

According to the organizers of Vietnam Foodexpo, though there are 2 months till the upcoming exhibition, over 90% of the exhibition area has been quickly registered by the domestic exhibitors, bringing this exhibition to the largest registered exhibitors of Vietnamese food industry companies compared to all similar specialized exhibitions in Vietnam. Businesses are actively preparing to exhibit a wide range of vegetables, seafood, beverages, tea and coffee, food ingredients (rice, nuts, spices, additives, sauce…), dairy products, canned and processed foods, processed foods, healthy foods); food processing technology and equipment. Visitors to the exhibition will find it easy and convenient to look for items on demand.

In addition to focusing on promoting trade activities for businesses and entrepreneurs at the exhibition, Vietnam Foodexpo this year will have a series of trade promotion activities on the sidelines such as the Vietnam International Food Industry Conference 2018, Saigon International Cooking Contest 2018, Business Cooperation Contract Signing Ceremory, Food Show, Vietnam Foodexpo 2018 Impression Award... On the occasion of the exhibition, on November 13, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (the Department for European and American Markets) will hold the Vietnam-Latin American Trade and Investment Forum, with aim to cooperate with the exhibition organizers to conduct a variety of activities to expand export markets for Vietnam's goods, particularly agricultural products and seafood.
